The highlight of visiting Brighton beach today is the Dendy street beach, just south of Middle Brighton. It features 82 colourful bathing boxes, which are one of the tourist icons of Melbourne.

These bathing boxes or colourful houses share a uniform size, shape and regular arrangement along the beach.
These colourful houses may be purchased by the residents from the council. On 2008, some of the selling prices range of $200,000 AUD. On top of this, there is a requirement of $500 AUD annual payment to the council. Clearly, owning one of this house is an expensive business.
To get there:
There are several ways to get to this part of Brighton beach. One of the quickest, and easiest is by using the public train. By getting on the Sandringham line and get off at Brighton Beach railway station.
The other way is to use the public tramp. Bus services is another alternative transport, including the 216 and 219 bus lines. These lines run from Melbourne CBD.
